UK Premiere of Tennesse Williams, The Pink Bedroom to Open at the Courtyard Theatre
28th March 2008'This pink bedroom. Incurable disease. Worse than drink or drugs it has broken my will and made me a lump of flesh' Tennessee Williams' The Pink Bedroom receives its UK premiere alongside three other rarely performed one act plays: Talk to Me Like the Rain and Let Me Listen, Mister Paradise and The Lady of Larkspur Lotion.
Unspoken Productions is the UK's only theatre company to solely use "the Method", Williams' preferred acting technique, with which he developed most of his work at The Actor's Studio, New York. This is an extremely rare opportunity to see Williams' exquisitely crafted short works in the style which they were originally written.
The Pink Bedroom sees a man and his mistress meet in the bedroom they have used for the last ten years - each blaming the other for the disintegration of their faded affair. As accusations and lamentations fly, the setting of the pink bedroom serves as a sharp reminder of their shared past and its sexual foundations.
In Talk to Me Like the Rain and Let Me Listen a couple awake from the most recent of many intoxicated sleeps to realise something has been lost.
Mister Paradise sees an isolated writer receive a visit from an adoring fan determined to make him famous.
The Lady of Larkspur Lotion perches on the edge of the bed in her filthy rented room until her thoughts are interrupted by the merciless landlady.
‘The Pink Bedroom', ‘Talk To Me Like the Rain and Let Me Listen', ‘Mister Paradise' and ‘The Lady of Larkspur Lotion' are presented through special arrangement with the University of South, Sewanee, Tennessee.
