Kings Cross Award for New Writing 2011 Winner Announced!
1st February 2012The Kings Cross Award for New Writing is now a national platform for emerging playwrights and plays. In this, its seventh edition, the judging panel selected for final consideration the work of six playwrights from an outstanding long list. They were:
Boderland by Carol Vine
Einstein's Daughter by Rob Johnston
Maxine by Philip St. John
Only Human by Rose Lewenstein
Philoctetes by Oliver Michell
You by Mark WilsonAll six works showed outstanding promise, but the overall winner is:

The play was highly praised by the Competition's prestigious panel of:
Debbie Isitt, writer and film director; Robin Soans, actor, playwright and writer;
Prof. Kenneth Pickering, writer, director and academic;
Jonathan Holloway, director and playwirght, Howard Ross, theatrical director;
June Abbott, Artistic Director, The Courtyard Theatre.
Einstein's Daughter will now recieve a staged reading at the Courtyard Theatre on Thursday 19th April at 1pm as part of the awarded prize. Our congratulations go out to Rob Johnston and to all the shortlisted playwrights for their outstanding standard of work.
